WHY SISIMUJ?
SisiMuj originated from the word "Sissimüjuè" which means "Black Woman" in Nufi, a Bamiléké language spoken in Cameroon.
Because women are mostly behind the handiwork showcased here, and are usually the unseen backbone of the African family, it was important for us to give them special recognition and this is one of the means we saw fit to do so.
A few years ago, while chatting with my siblings around the kitchen table on new year's eve, my sister came up with the word "Sissimüjuè" as I was sharing with them this project dear to my heart. She thought this word fit so well the vision I had and what I was describing to them.
And so, out of sharing my passion with my beloved family, "SisiMuj" was born.
